How do casinos link the progressive jackpots on slot machines together?

Have you ever played a slot machine like say wheel of fortune for example and you notice the digital displayed progressive at the top that is rising. My question is if many casinos combine into this jackpot how is it linked? Via internet? Any casino

It depends, If it is a big casino, it is the jackpot for just that casino. If it's not a big casino, it is transferring data to the internet and being pooled with other small casinos.

Is it true that casinos that banned smoking are losing out to casinos that still alow it?

In Washington State casinos have banned smoking in accordance with state law. However this doesn't include Indian casinos which still allow it. I was wondering how the state casinos are doing vs the Indian casinos.
Also has this happened
I wouldn't doubt it. Gamblers just may have an addictive personality anyway heh. Certain institutions loose business when smoking is banned so I could see them taking a hit because of that. A slightly different example but sort of similar, look at

Many senators, especially conservative Republicans, prefer expanding those fees to all users of a new stadium or finding other funding sources to eliminate the need for gambling to support construction.

The commission will license up to three casinos in Massachusetts. But the panel need not license any casino if commission members feel the applications aren’t good enough.
Chairman Steve Crosby has said he’s in no rush to get casinos licensed, so it could even be a few years before the first one comes on line.
